As an Intervention Specialist who teaches students diagnosed with learning disabilities, mainly Autism Spectrum Disorder, I am always looking for a better way to help my students. I have been struggling this year, as many teachers have with our schools' changes, but there has always been something missing. When I saw this book, I was very intrigued. In one of the emails, I received this sentence stood out. "Your clients and students are ready to learn more abstract language and academic skills, but poor language comprehension and problem behaviors are getting in the way of progress. I know what it’s like to go back and forth trying to find the best programming. When I was first thrown into the autism world, I went to every conference I could searching for techniques that actually worked." So I got the book, and as I read the first 3 chapters, I had an AH-HA moment that every teacher loves to see in their student. Now, I am currently getting my Master's as a BCBA. I will soon be taking the exam to be a licensed BCBA. I have learned more with Mary Barabara than I have in my school courses. I recommend this book to anyone looking for that missing piece you have been looking for in all those books, conferences, and training. I can't wait to start her training modules to really get all the information I can from her. This book has relieved so many fears for this Grandma.
